| NPL Publishing Consultants is a Publishing Brokerage firm, handling all kinds of Publishing opportunities including companies, lines, groups of titles, multimedia firms, video, audio, comics, rights, ebook companies, and the like. The principal of the brokerage, Martin Foner, has thirty years of experience as owner of three publishing houses during which he acquired and sold a dozen publishers/imprints. He is also called on by many publishing firms to consult on strategic and growth plans as well as exit strategies, including sales. We represent both sellers in the marketplace and buyers with specific acquisition requirements for whom we locate potential targets. Our brokerage service includes complete 'valuation to post-closing' services, all included in the fee we charge. Since Mr. Foner is also a strategic publishing consultant and retired LPA/EA/tax accountant, part of his job is to act as 'matchmaker', assisting both seller and buyer to locate the best possible business situation (which is not always the higest offer or what appears to be the 'best deal') including the tax ramifications of various ways to structure the final deal. NPL represents publishers primarily in the US (about 95%) and Canada (5%) and has, but does not specialize in, working with opportunities in Europe and the rest of the English speaking globe (one sale every two years or so). We do tend to limit our work to companies selling for under $10MM and we are one of only a few publishing brokerages to accept potential sale clients in the 'under $100K' price range, a range where sales take place fairly quickly, and often on an all cash basis. |
