Sales of small and mid-sized businesses in California reached all time highs this month. The feedback I am getting is that there was a lot of deals pending during the 2005 Holidays and now those deals were pushed into 2006 and are now being finished. Also the demand for
business purchases is higher especially for larger businesses as more baby boomers are selling off due to retirement, etc.
This last weeks business sales statistics showed that 403 California businesses were sold by business owners, business brokers, & real estate agents for the week of March 20, 2006 thru March 26, 2006. In Northern California Santa Clara County led business sales with a total of 25 transactions. In Southern California Los Angeles County led with 74 transactions.
Sales of California businesses during this time period by County include: County: 2, Alameda County: 16, Amador County: 1, Butte County: 4, Contra Costa County: 7, El Dorado County: 1, Fresno County: 8, Kern County: 19, Lassen County: 1, Los Angeles County: 74, Marin County: 1, Mendocino County: 2, Merced County: 3, Modoc County: 1, Mono County: 1, Monterey County: 1, Napa County: 7, Nevada County: 1, Orange County: 60, Placer County: 5, Riverside County: 20, Sacramento County: 13, San Bernardino County: 18, San Diego County: 47, San Francisco County: 12, San Joaquin County: 8, San Luis Obispo County: 4, San Mateo County: 3, Santa Barbara County: 5, Santa Clara County: 25, Santa Cruz County: 4, Shasta County: 1, Solano County: 8, Sonoma County: 11, Stanislaus County: 6, Sutter County: 2, Yuba County: 1.
For current annual small business sold statistics throughout all counties in California go to www.BizBen.com/stats.php where you can see business sales statistics by both county and cities within those counties.
It should be interesting to see how sales of business hold up during next month's tax season & there is usually a lull in activity during this period.
Also congratulations to
UCLA Anderson School Of Management (my alma mater) for making the top rankings in
U.S. News & World Report top ranked business schools list and moving up again this year!
