We Are Our Own Worst Enemies!

We are our own worst enemies. It's taken me my lifetime to really acknowledge that statement and fully understand it. The ramifications of our actions and our attitudes about the way think in general truly dictate the circumstance of our lives, to a certain extent. This realization has really come to life since I became a business broker.
One of the most frustrating things about this job is also the thing I love most about this job, you meet all kinds of people. The more I step back, the more I see a pattern. And in reality it has helped re-enforce my values and critical thinking skills.
For instance, one listing I have has fallen out of due diligence twice and hoping the third times a charm. He is an old school guy, cut corners thinker. He has vices like gambling. His books are almost nonexistent and he has nothing on tax returns. He shows very bad planning skill and extreme disorganizing. If I sell this business, that's been on the market for months, it will be a bloody miracle.
I have another client who is the opposite. He is extremely meticulous and well organized. His business showed good planning and steady growth. His books are perfect and include perfectly organized balance sheets in chronological order all in binders. I sold his business in 1 week. So I ask you, are we or are we not our own worst enemies? • Technorati • del.icio.us • Digg It • Furl • ma.gnolia • Spurl • Yahoo MyWeb
